Answer :Alice H. Lichtenstein, DSc, director of Tufts HNRCA Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory, replies, To my knowledge, there are no data to indicate that HDL can be too high. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institutes (NHLBI) National Choles terol Education Program recommends HDL levels of 60 mg/dL or greater for protection against cardiovascular disease.
