Q: Is it true that you can lose weight faster by eliminating wheat from your diet?

Answer :Susan Roberts, PhD, director of Tufts HNRCA Energy Metabolism Laboratory, responds: There is no evidence that eliminating wheat helps weight loss. Wheat is a relatively high-carbohydrate food and low-carbohydrate diets generally tend to give slightly more weight loss than high-carb diets in the short-term-though not in the long-term. Whole-grain wheat is a healthy, fiber-rich food that is good to eat in moderation.
