Do Consumers Really Want Menu Info?

Advocates of health-conscious menu labeling have their work cut out for them, according to a new survey by the NPD Group. On the one hand, 4 in 10 consumers surveyed said they are trying to cut down on unhealthy fats, sodium and/or sugar. But only 1 in 10 actually looks for this sort of information on menus when eating out. Only slightly more of the 2,829 adults surveyed said they look for calorie counts on menus, at 20%. One marketing expert commented on the findings, In the moment of truth, consumers really dont avoid the foods they say they will.
