Whether for emotional highs or lows, Americans still turn to indulgent “comfort food” – especially pizza. A new Harris poll of 2,522 adults found that more than 40% of respondents confessed to eating to counter a bad day, while 33% turn to comfort food when feeling depressed. Pizza was ranked the most comforting food when feeling down, followed by chocolate, ice cream, mac and cheese and chips. Nearly 40% of survey respondents also celebrate good days and special occasions with indulgent food, with steak the favorite choice. Other celebratory choices include cake, lobster and, again, pizza.
