Two faculty at Tufts’ Friedman School have been named to Thomson Reuters’ list of the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds. The listing identifies scientists in 21 fields who published the most papers between 2003 and 2014 cited highly by other scientists. Named to the list were Dariush Mozaffarian, MD, DrPH, and Jeffrey B. Blumberg, PhD.
Dr. Mozaffarian (pictured at left) is editor-in-chief of the Health & Nutrition Letter and dean of the Friedman School. A cardiologist and epidemiologist, he has done research that has demonstrated the connections between lifestyle and heart disease. He has written or co-written more than 200 scientific publications on the diet and lifestyle factors that contribute to diabetes and cognitive decline as well as heart disease and stroke.
Blumberg (pictured at right), a long-time member of the newsletter’s editorial advisory board, is a professor at the Friedman School and senior scientist at the HNRCA Antioxidants Research Laboratory. His research has focused on how antioxidant nutrients promote health and prevent disease as we age, and on determining the dietary requirements for these nutrients. He has published more than 300 scientific articles.
